I offer this training both in person at our Birmingham offices and online via live conferencing — designed to keep both online and in-office participants engaged and fully included. You'll learn from a clinician who applies the Gottman Method in all my couples work and lives it out at home with my husband Tal, who is also trained through Level 3 of the Gottman Method.

This training reviews Dr. Gottman's four decades of research on what makes marriages succeed or fail and teaches a therapy that helps troubled marriages. You'll gain a wealth of information about couples dynamics, marital assessment, couples exercises, and therapeutic interventions—all materials you can use immediately in your private practice.

I am a fully Certified Gottman Therapist and an Authorized Gottman Clinical Trainer for Level 1, who applies this work with couples ranging from pre-engagement to high conflict and those seeking healing after infidelity and affair recovery.

Learning Objectives

1. Participants will summarize the research that allows us to predict future relationship stability.

2. Participants will describe the seven levels of the Sound Relationship House theory.

3. Participants will organize a couple's therapy assessment using elements of the couple's narrative, the Oral History Interview, written questionnaires, observations of conflict and individual interviews.

4. Participants will describe two interventions to help strengthen a couple's conflict management.

5. Participants will describe two interventions to enhance a couple's friendship system.

6. Participants will describe two interventions to explore a couple's system of shared meaning.

7. Participants will explain why physiological self-soothing is essential for a healthy relationship.

8. Participants will create a therapeutic contract with a couple, discuss and decide on goals and include a summary of the couples strengths and areas that need improvement.

9. Participants will describe the Philosophy of Therapy including assumptions, overview of techniques, and goals of therapy.

10. Participants will describe the Rapoport Intervention and when to use it.

11. Participants will describe the process of therapy, including the structure of a session.
